After a shaky start (late arrival and an improvised, mixed team) Olympia started batting against ACC in the semi-finals. Alfonzo Poole and Niels Fundter (our secret weapon as an opening batsman) immediately took on the ACC attack: 43 runs for 1 after just 4.3 overs (Alfonzo 27). It was a little too early for Sylvester, so Niels continued his innings with Frank Pruschen, resulting in 84 for 3 after 11.1. A quick dismissal of Leendert Jan (3rd LBW out of 4 wickets, sharp eye, those officials J) brought Sander to the crease. End result: 143 after 20 overs, Niels a glorious 71*, Sander 25*.
All in all a very defendable total, despite the fact that we were a little bit short of bowlers. But, we kept the run rate low and took the occasional wicket. Due to rain, the ACC innings was diminished to 17 overs and a target of 125. With 2 overs to go, they still needed 24 runs.... An unfortunate 16th over took their total to 121 and ACC reached the target on the 3rd ball of the last over (featuring their Topklasse opening batsman at 89*). Great fight by our team, but just not enough.
